Buffalo, New York – October 1, 2015 – You are trapped in a room filled with hidden clues and strange puzzles. A single locked door is the only means of escape. Time is running out though, you have only one hour to find the key and escape. This is not reality, it is one of the newest forms of entertainment- Escape Rooms.
Lock & Key Escape Room will be bringing these real-life exit games to Buffalo this fall. They will be opening the first of two rooms at their location in the Elmwood Village on October 15, 2015.
In this first room, entitled ‘Virus Outbreak,’ teams of up to 7 players take on the role of survivors of a zombie apocalypse. They are trapped in a research facility, bitten by zombies, with a horde of undead waiting to break down the barricades they have erected. The players must use their intellect, problem-solving skills and teamwork to uncover the clues to where the cure is hidden and find the key to escape within an hour before the hordes descend upon them.
“We want our players to feel as is they the main characters in their own movie or video game” says owner Jared Reichman, “Unlike many other escape rooms that just feature random puzzles, we want to create a strong theme that immerses our players in a story.”
Escape games have their roots in video games. Live escape rooms share the mental challenge of their electronic counterparts while adding in social interaction. This interaction is not just to make it a social activity, it becomes vital to players success; without teamwork groups are unlikely to succeed.
The first live versions began appearing in Japan as recently as 2010. They have since exploded around the globe, appearing in the United States in just the last few years, often becoming top-ranked tourist attractions.
It is not just a fun and unique way to spend an evening, but can also be used as a team-building exercise for businesses and groups. Lock & Key is situated on Elmwood Avenue, right near many local restaurants, making it a perfect addition to a night or afternoon out.
